Elbasan tour (half-day)

Today, we'll be visiting Elbasan, one of Albania's oldest towns, famous for its castle, whose foundations date back to Roman times. It was rebuilt to its present state in the 15th century by the Ottomans. They named it ElBasan (fortified town). The castle is one of the city's most emblematic historic sites. We'll be exploring its ramparts, towers and old churches. The site also offers fine views over the city.

The city has a rich cultural heritage and a history dating back over 2,000 years, blending Eastern and Western civilizations.

Then, inside the citadel, we'll visit the King's Mosque and the Orthodox Church. The historic mosque is an impressive example of Ottoman architecture in Albania. We'll have the opportunity to visit the interior of the mosque and learn more about its history.
Our tour continues with a visit to the interesting St. Mary's Orthodox Church (Kisha e Shën Marisë) in the old town. It's famous for its stone architecture and historic frescoes.

Please note: Don't forget to bring your old t-shirt with you, as you'll be taking part in the production of a carpet using recycled materials. At the end of the experience, you can take your homemade carpet home with you.
