Bunk’art 2

Albania lived under the communist dictatorship of Enver Hoxha from 1945 to 1991, and the best way to learn more about this period is to visit two museums called Bunk'Art 1 and 2.

Today's tour begins at Bunk'Art 2. Located right in the center of Tirana, just a 30-second walk from Skenderbeg Square.
Bunk'art 2 reconstructs the history of the Albanian Ministry of the Interior from 1912 to 1991 and reveals the secrets of the "Sigurimi", the political police who were the hard-line weapon of persecution used by Enver Hoxha's regime.
Inside, you'll find numerous rooms designed to show different eras of Albania, from the Second World War to the fall of communism in 1991. At the same time, you'll explore the underground spaces, tunnels and unique features of the bunker, gaining an insight into its original purpose and design. A large area is dedicated to communist prison camps and the techniques used to keep people under its rule (our guide will accompany you inside BunkArt).
Bunk'Art 2 usually has a gift store where you can buy books, souvenirs and objects related to Albanian history and culture.
