Eco-gastronomic tour in Berat

Perched in the hills below Mount Tomorr is the village of Roshnik, home to 120 families, a 30-minute drive northeast of Berat. It is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and orchards. Kantina Alpeta is located at the end of the asphalt road that runs through the village, in front of the mosque.
Alpeta, a true family business, includes a family winery, a guesthouse and a recently added restaurant, all run by brothers Alfred and Petrit Fiska.
The winery began as a small business run by their father Beqir, who was an agronomist during the Communist period. Armed with his know-how, he began planting his own grapes in 1992, producing his first wine in 1994.
As you wander through the vast 5.5-hectare vineyards, you'll come across many different kinds of grapes grown on the farm: the local Albanian native shesh i zi, the pulës, a variety from the Berat region, the rrush dimeror (winter grape), as well as some of international renown including varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Muscat.
